You
Your name goes at the top of the hub, on printed worksheets and on the piano practice log. An email address is optional, and is printed under your name on a sheet you hand in. Your school year decides which grade Make Practice opens on.
Put in your own details, not anyone else’s. Everything here is saved in this browser and nowhere else. There is no account and no server behind this site, so nothing you type can reach another person. Your email address is left out of the backup file and out of sync on purpose, so even a copy of this hub that you hand to someone cannot carry it.

What this hub has saved
The same hub on another device
Put in the same name and password on another device and everything returns: your practice, your scores, the lot. The password never leaves this browser — it is turned into a key here, and what travels is already locked.
It is a lock, not an account. Several people can share one gist and none of them can read another's, because each is locked with its own password. Nobody can reset it for you: a forgotten password means that copy cannot be opened again, so keep the file backup above as well. And a password worth having is not the one used for anything else.
Or just carry a file
Nothing to set up at allNothing to sign into, nothing to create. Two ways, both about half a minute.
A link. This puts the whole hub, locked with a password, into a link you can send yourself however you already send things. Open it on the other device and it comes back. The part after the # never leaves the device it is on, not even to the site it points at.
Or a file. The same thing, as a download:
- Press Save a copy above. A single file lands in Downloads.
- Get it to the other device however you already send things — AirDrop, email it to yourself, a shared folder, a USB stick.
- Open this page there and press Load a copy.
Nothing is signed into and nothing is uploaded. The file holds everything the table above lists, except the parts that never leave a device: an API key and your email address. Do it again whenever you want the other device caught up.
Keep it in step by itself
Somewhere for the copy to live, so the name and password above have something to fetch. It is set up once, on one device, by whoever owns the GitHub account — a few minutes with the steps below. After that every other device needs only the hub code, the name and the password: no account, no token, nothing to install. Saving a new copy needs the token again, so that is worth doing on whichever device is used most.
